My interest in dentistry first began when I was a teenager in braces.  I thought it was a fascinating thing how that dentist could morph my crooked teeth into the straight smile I still have today.  As I got into college, I had the opportunity to speak with some dental professionals at the dental school and those conversations led me to change my major from engineering and architecture to dentistry, and I've never looked back.  I was excited that I could combine my love for design and engineering with my love for people into one great career.

     

I completed my undergraduate studies at Portland State University, and then received my dental degree from OHSU Dental School in 1976.  I have furthered my dental education and skills with post-graduate studies in Orthodontics, Cosmetic Dentistry, Implantology, and Oral Conscious Sedation, to name  a few.  After graduation, I settled with my wife and family in Salem, where I was born and raised.  I have been practicing in the Salem area ever since.

     

I continue to love dentistry because it gives me the opporunity to interact daily with so many wonderful people.  I am committed to making every dental visit pleasant and relaxing for you and your family.  There is nothing more exciting to me than to see my patients pain free and smiling with confidence.  I take great satisfaction knowing that I can contribute even in a small way to make a positive difference in a person's life.

         

In my spare time, I love spending time in the outdoors landscaping and camping with our family at Camp Sherman.  My wife, Sharon, and I have 5 sons, 1 daughter, and 8 wonderful grandchildren who are the love of my life.

 

I have been in dentistry for many years now.  When I was a young man in the Air Force, I had no idea what direction my life would take.  I then met a dentist practicing at my station who encuoraged me to consider a career as a dentist.  I am so glad that I took his advice, for it has been such a fulfilling part of my life to work with people and help them improve and maintain their oral and overall health.

 

I received my dental degree from OHSU Dental School and practiced for 4 years in Alaska.  During that time in Alaska, I developed an interest in periodontics.  I enrolled at USC and received my specialty license as a periodontist.  I have practiced for many years in Salem doing both periodontics and general dentistry.  These days, the majority of my practice is general dentistry.

 

Over the years, many of my patients have become my good friends, and I look forward to seeing all my good friends every day I work.

 

In my spare time, I restore hot rods and I have a passion for bicycling.  I am the current time record holder for cycling from Portland to Salt Lake City.  My bride, Pat, and I have been blessed with 3 sons, 1 daughter, and 7 grandchildren.
